CHRISTMAS DAY: The Christ Candle

Advent is a season. It celebrates the first Advent, or coming, of Christ in Bethlehem. And it anticipates the final Advent of Christ to set all things right.

No artwork, videos or allusions today. Savor the beauty of the King James translation that ends the Bible.

These are quotes from Revelation 22, relating the vision revealed to the Apostle John, which he shared with early churches under a dark time of persecution.

Its spirit echoes much of what we have discussed in this series: Our Expectation is that Christ is coming again to retrieve his Bride. We have Hope that grace and blessing will be ours. Joy overwhelms us when we realize it will happen quickly. And our thirst will be satisfied by the water of life, freely–thanks to Christ’s sacrifice giving us Purity in God’s eyes.

That last sentence is a mouthful. But if the following scripture stirs you, I’d love to hear from you. Perhaps you are like me: The older I get, the more easily I understand the phrase, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”

Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. …

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. …

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. …

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
